CORNWALL GENERAL QTR SESSIONS JAMES HOOPER, 24, was indicted for an infamous
assault on ELIZABETH SYMONS. The parties were fellow servants in the
house of Mr. WORTH, at Calstock. The prosecutrix, having admitted on her
cross-examination that she had allowed very improper liberties to the
prisoner, and it appearing that she had taken no legal step against him
till her father required her to do so, the Court dismissed the more
serious charge, and the jury acquitted the prisoner on the count for
common assault. |
