West Briton, 24 May 1839
On Wednesday morning, the 15th instant, at Calstock, at the advanced age
of 97, Mrs. Thomasin Bowhay, relict of the late Mr. Richard Bowhay. She
has had 21 children, and 80 grand and great grand children; she has been
in active business from her childhood in Devonport, Calstock, and
Callington, until within the last fifteen years; has enjoyed good health
and the use of her faculties to the last, and but two years rode a
single horse to Dartmoor and back, 29 miles in one day, with a party of
her great grandchildren. She was universally beloved and respected by
all who knew her, or had the pleasure of her acquaintance, and died
perfectly resigned - giving her blessing to her children and grand
children.
